Key Aspects of Our Faith
Our Statement of Faith
Father, Son, Holy Spirit
We believe in one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 1:1). Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of the Father, is truly God and truly man. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a sacrificial and atoning death for the sins of the world, rose bodily for our justification, and now reigns in glory until all things are subjected to Him (1 Tim. 3:16).
The Holy Scripture
We believe the Holy Scriptures, in their original writings, are divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit, free from error, and delivered through holy men of old. The church has no authority to establish doctrines or practices that contradict these Scriptures, which were recognized as Canon by the early Christian Church (1 Tim. 3:16).
Humanity
Humanity was created in God’s image as the pinnacle of creation but became spiritually alienated from God through the fall. Without God, humans cannot achieve their divine purpose (Ps. 8; Eph. 2:8-9). Justification comes by grace through faith in Christ’s sacrifice (Rom. 3:21-24). We believe all are called to repentance and to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:4; 2 Pet. 3:9). Sanctification is a work of the Holy Spirit, and His gifts remain active in the church until Christ returns. These gifts are to be cultivated under the oversight of the local church (Acts 8:14-17; Acts 19:1-2; 1 Cor. 12:4-7). Those who follow Christ are called to depart from sin, as salvation marks the beginning of redemption and transformation into Christ’s likeness (2 Tim. 2:19).
Church
We believe in the priesthood of all believers, granting direct access to God through Jesus Christ (1 Pet. 2:5). The body of Christ is primarily expressed through the local church, which is sovereign and autonomous (self governing), though cooperative relationships among churches are encouraged for unity in doctrine and practice (Rev. 2–3). The ministries of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher are gifts to equip believers and edify the church until Christ returns (Eph. 4:11-16). Above all, we believe the church is believers and followers of Christ. We are the Church and are to embody the characteristics and nature of Christ and not our sin nature.
sin
All people inherit a sin nature from Adam (Ps. 51; Rom. 5:12-14, 18-19) and are separated from God. sin results in spiritual death, and only the new birth through Christ can restore life and relationship with God (John 3:1-8; Eph. 2:1-6).
Salvation
Salvation restores humanity to God’s original purpose. It begins with the acknowledgment of sin, conviction by the Holy Spirit, and acceptance of Christ’s atoning sacrifice (Rom. 3:20; 7:7). Salvation is through Christ alone (Acts 4:12) and involves believing in His messiahship and confessing Him as Lord (Rom. 10:9-10).
Water Baptism
Water Baptism is for believers who have been made right with God through faith. It symbolizes death to sin and resurrection to a new life in Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-37; Rom. 6:1-14). Baptism is a sign of faith and a seal of righteousness, aligning the believer with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It also signifies deliverance and a circumcision of the heart (Col. 2:9-13). Baptism is conducted in the name of Jesus Christ, representing immersion into His person and nature (Acts 19:1-5).
Baptism in the Holy Ghost
The Holy Spirit regenerates believers, baptizing them for empowerment in witness, teaching, and guidance (Acts 1:8; John 14:26; 16:13; Rom. 8:14). Speaking in tongues is one evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4; Acts 10:44-47; Acts 19:6). Only those who are born again can receive this baptism (John 14:16-17). We believe that the Gifts of the Spirit are not just for the select few, but that these gifts are for all who will choose to step out in faith and walk in the fullness of God dwelling in them. While some may have a bent towards certain specific gifts, we believe that all gifts work together as the Holy Spirit leads.
The Last Judgement
We believe in the literal Second Coming of Christ, His reign on earth, the resurrection of the righteous to eternal life, and the wicked to eternal judgment. Ultimately, God’s Kingdom will triumph (Acts 1:9-11; Dan. 12:2; Rev. 22:1-7). We believe in unity between the Church and Israel. The Church has not replaced Israel, but they are joined together into one revealed as the body of Christ.
Communion
The meal that heals! The Lord’s Supper commemorates Christ’s death and unites believers with Him. It represents the life, strength, and joy believers receive through faith and the spiritual union with the glorified Christ (1 Cor. 11:23-26). We do not believe that the partaking of communion is something that is just ritualistic and should only be taken on special occasions. We believe and teach that anyone can take and administer communion at their own will and choosing. Whether going through sickness, loss, struggles, or simply just in reverence, remembrance, and worship to Him that you can and should take communion as often as you are led.
Integrity and Service
We strive to live with integrity, serving others as an expression of our faith.
